Advert description
Hello!
I'm a tutor with a degree in Japanese from the University of Edinburgh, and 5 years of tutoring experience post-graduation. I did my year abroad jointly at Okayama and Seikei Universities in Japan. I have worked mostly independently, with a brief stint at the International House Language Learning School in Edinburgh before it went out of business.
I have worked with students ranging from age 8, up to 60 years old and I can support the learning of students at any level, from beginner to advanced. Currently, however, I am working on a medical degree so my preference is for beginners and intermediate students as these levels are easier to fit around my studies while still maintaining a high quality of education for my students.
Lessons can be conducted either via Microsoft Teams or Discord, whichever is more accessible for you as the student.
Typically I will teach while loosely following the structure of the Genki books, leading into Tobira for intermediate students looking to push into the realm of advanced learning. I am experienced and familiar with handling students of varying confidence levels, as well as neurodivergent individuals or LGBTQ+ people.
For corporate events, if you are a company looking to upskill your employees or prepare them for a stint abroad - or for interacting with Japanese counterparts then I am also happy to work within this capacity. Just know that the rate for such sessions will increase with the number of individuals participating and the content provided.
If, after reading all of that, I sound like someone who can help you along in developing your Japanese proficiency then please do get in touch!
Hope to hear from you!
