History Tutor - 18th and 19th century history

Advert description
I have an Honours Degree in History with Humanities, a Master's Degree in Education, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Dyslexia Diagnosis & Support. I have taught students aged 16 years and upwards for over 33 years, at varying levels including GCSE, A Level and preparation for University study.

My experience covers working in Adult Education with adults who are pursuing non-examination cultural studies in both History and English literature.

My aim is that my teaching is informative, comprehensive and interesting - I teach to the student's strengths and to ensure that they are well-prepared for assessments/examinations. This includes helping the student with their study skills and time management, which are vital for exam success.

I have over 30 years experience in teaching history and English literature, at varying levels from complete beginners to University level studies. My aim is that my classes should be enjoyable, informative, comprehensive and interesting, stimulating students to ask questions and to think 'around' the subject they are studying. I try to make the people/events discussed very real and relevant, so that students can not only form a link with the people/events discussed, but can gain insight into the driving motivations behind them. Discussion of topics will form part of learning.

My strategy is to teach to the students' strengths and to enable them to freely discuss strategies/teaching methods that they find difficult, so that we can find ways around possible problems in an examination/assessment setting. The aim is for students to tackle assessments/exams feeling confident that they are well-prepared.

Study skills and time management are absolutely essential for assessment/exam success, and these will form part of all lessons.
