Kumi is a wonderful tutor and I feel so lucky that I’ve met her and get to see her every week.
I came to her as an independent Japanese learner of many years looking to establish a routine with someone that could keep track of my progress and help me become fluent. She was easily able to find material that was apt for my level, despite having stronger and weaker areas that make it hard to determine at which formal level I am (N1-N5). She is thorough with the content I get to learn in our hour together, and trusts that I can learn some things independently. Since beginning our lessons a few months ago, I am much more able to spontaneously read and communicate in spoken and written Japanese.
As a very important plus, I am grateful for her experience with autistic students, given that I have needs and differences that I know not everyone would understand let alone work around. I can tell that she cares about me as a person, not just as a student.
