Advert description
Over the past five years, I've built substantial tutoring experience working with students across a wide range of ages and abilities. I've primarily tutored GCSE Maths and English Language, as well as A-Level Maths and Economics, through private one-on-one sessions where I've developed a strong understanding of exam requirements and common stumbling blocks students face.
Prior to this, my time at a Kumon tuition center and my volunteering sessions at a local community school also gave me valuable experience working with younger learners, teaching me how to make foundational concepts engaging and accessible for primary and Key Stage 3 students.
Currently studying for my MSc at LSE, I stay sharp with mathematical and analytical thinking, which helps me explain complex concepts clearly and relate academic material to real-world applications.
I don't believe in one-size-fits-all teaching. My first priority with any student is understanding where they're actually stuck, not just what topic they're struggling with. Some students need concepts broken down into smaller steps, others need to see the bigger picture first, and many just need someone to explain things in plain English rather than textbook language.
I teach by working through problems together rather than simply demonstrating methods. I ask questions that guide students toward understanding rather than giving away answers, which builds their problem-solving confidence for exams. For younger students, I focus on making Maths and English feel less intimidating by using relatable examples and keeping sessions interactive.
I'm particularly effective at exam preparation, I can study the mark schemes, understand what examiners look for, and teach strategic approaches to maximizing marks. But beyond grades, I aim to help students actually comprehend the material so their knowledge sticks beyond the exam.
What I've learned from 5+ years of tutoring is that patience and adaptability matter more than anything else. Every student learns differently, and my job is to figure out what works for them, not to force them into a teaching style that doesn't fit.
