Experienced Qualified Teacher | English & Maths | KS1, KS2, SATs & 11

Are you looking for an experienced, patient and supportive teacher to help your child improve their English or Maths?
I am a qualified teacher with a PGCE and QTS and over 10 years of teaching experience in both the UK and international schools. I teach English and Maths across KS1 and KS2, as well as preparation for Year 6 SATs and the 11+.
I understand that every child learns differently, so I do not believe in using exactly the same approach for every student. I take time to get to know each child, understand their strengths and identify the areas where they need more support. I then plan lessons around their individual needs and work at a pace that allows them to feel comfortable while still being challenged.
What are my lessons like?
I like my lessons to be structured but enjoyable. Depending on the child and the topic, I use a mixture of:
• Clear explanations and modelling
• Questioning to check understanding
• PowerPoint presentations
• Active Inspire activities
• Practice worksheets
• Educational games and interactive activities
• Guided and independent practice
• Regular assessment to monitor progress
I believe children learn best when they are actively involved in their learning. I encourage children to ask questions, explain their thinking and have another go when something doesn’t go right the first time. Building confidence is just as important to me as improving academic ability.
English
I can support children with reading, comprehension, spelling, grammar, vocabulary and writing. I particularly enjoy helping children develop their confidence with literacy and become more independent writers and readers.
I have a strong focus on children’s language and literacy development. I can identify areas where a child may be struggling and provide targeted practice to help them make progress.
Maths
I can support children with developing their understanding and confidence in Maths, from basic number skills through to more challenging KS2 topics. I focus on making sure children understand the method and, more importantly, understand why it works rather than simply memorising an answer.
Year 6 SATs
I can provide targeted support for children preparing for their Year 6 SATs for both Maths and English. If your child needs support with English or Maths, SATs preparation or 11+, I would be happy to discuss their individual needs and how I can help.
