Ayesha El-Iassay

My lessons are friendly, supportive and well structured, but I always adapt them to suit each child's individual needs, ability and learning style. I teach English and Maths across KS1 and KS2, as well as 11+ preparation.

I usually start by finding out what the child already knows and identifying any areas where they need more support. I then build the lesson around these areas, using clear explanations, modelling, questioning and plenty of opportunities to practise. I like to keep lessons varied and engaging by using games, PowerPoint presentations, Active Inspire activities and practice worksheets.

I have over 10 years of teaching experience in both the UK and international schools. I currently work as an Early Years Teacher and Literacy Lead, where I focus on developing children's literacy skills and supporting other staff. I also have experience supporting children with additional needs and work alongside the Camden Inclusion Team.

I believe children learn best when they feel comfortable and confident. I encourage children to ask questions, make mistakes and have another go without feeling worried about getting something wrong. My aim is to help children make progress while also building their confidence, independence and enjoyment of learning. I regularly assess their understanding and use this to plan the next lesson and make sure they continue to move forward.
