Advert description
My name is Emma (she/her) and I'm a qualified History teacher (Outstanding PGCE & First Class Honours in BA History) with 4 years of classroom experience and consistently high exam results. I am available for KS3, KS4 and KS5 online History tutoring.
Alongside classroom teaching, I spent 2.5 years as a Subject and Pedagogy Reviewer and Lesson Content Creator at Oak National Academy, where I helped create over 1,500 History, RSHE and Citizenship lessons now used by around a third of UK teachers. This means my tutoring is built on the same rigorous, exam-focused approach used in classrooms across the country.
My engaging lessons are full of subject passion, fun and exam guidance (if required). I want every student to see History not as a list of dates to memorise, but as a set of fascinating stories and arguments — and I want all of my students to enjoy their time in the classroom, regardless of ability and accessibility needs, providing differentiated resources where needed.
In our first lesson, I'll get to know your current level, your goals and what's brought you to History tutoring, whether that's a specific exam, general interest or curiosity about a particular period, before diving into a topic so you get a real feel for how I teach. By the end of the trial, I'll set out a clear plan for reaching your goals. New students: your first lesson is just £10 (usually £25).
I have taught many different time periods across the History KS3, KS4 and KS5 curriculum and can adapt my lesson content to your needs. My specialist subjects include:
OCR Popular Culture & The Witchcraze of the 16th & 17th Centuries A-Level
AQA Restoration England GCSE
AQA Elizabethan England GCSE
AQA Russia, 1894–1945: Tsardom and Communism GCSE
AQA Conflict and Tension between East and West 1945–1972 GCSE
AQA Britain: Power and the People: c1170 to the Present Day GCSE
AQA Britain: Power and the People: c1000 to the Present Day GCSE
I am also available for online English tutoring for KS3, English as an Additional Language (EAL) support for KS3 and KS4, and essay writing guidance including support with reading, writing, spelling and grammar. I have an English Literature A-Level and spent several months volunteering as an English teacher in Indonesia for underprivileged students (ages 3–18). I am a native English speaker.
