Advert description
I am a qualified secondary Music Teacher with QTS, a PhD in Music Composition from King’s College London and experience teaching KS3, GCSE and university students. I am also a Pearson/Edexcel GCSE Music Examiner, so I understand assessment criteria and what examiners look for.
My lessons are suitable for GCSE and A-level students who need support with composition, listening and appraisal, music theory, harmony, analysis, performance preparation or music technology. I begin by identifying each student’s goals, current level and areas for development before creating a clear, personalised learning plan.
Lessons combine clear explanations, musical examples, modelling, practical activities, guided practice and constructive feedback. I can help students develop composition portfolios, write stronger exam answers, use musical vocabulary accurately and improve their aural and analytical skills. As an active composer and former university tutor in composition and harmony, I can also help advanced students develop original ideas, refine notation, orchestration and musical structure, and prepare confidently for assessments.
