My lessons
Each lesson begins with a 10-15 minute warm-up, followed by repertoire work. I’ll first hear you sing, then assess where to focus and dive into the details. We finish with a final run-through to show the progress made during the lesson, and you’ll leave with a homework task for the week ahead.
My approach
I focus on three core areas: technique, style and presentation. That means breathing, vowel placement, expression and storytelling, and stagecraft.
We’ll also explore twang, texture and vocal timbre, drawing on the stylistic techniques of musical theatre, gospel, rock, jazz and classical singing. This helps you build a versatile palette of sounds and choose the right colour for each song.
My method draws on speech therapy, particularly Accent Method breathing, to bridge the gap between your speaking and singing voice, and uses the whole body to shape your sound. My teaching style is warm and fun, but direct, so you get the most out of every lesson.
I’ll also share practical vocal care tips, including steaming, hydration, rest, and warming up and cooling down.
