Advert description
Hi! I'm Kae. I'm a Japanese tutor with experience teaching both children and adults. I am half Japanese and half English and bilingual in both languages, giving me a unique perspective as a Japanese tutor. Having grown up understanding both languages and cultures, I know not only how Japanese works, but also how an English speaker is likely to approach and understand it.
I can explain differences in grammar, sentence structure, pronunciation and vocabulary in a way that makes sense from an English-speaking perspective, rather than simply teaching Japanese as it is.
I have achieved JLPT N1 and N2 and attended Japanese Saturday School in London, giving me extensive experience learning Japanese within an English-speaking environment.
My approach is simple: you tell me what you want to work on, and I tailor the lesson to you. Whether you want to practise hiragana or katakana, improve grammar, build vocabulary, work on pronunciation, practise conversation, prepare for the JLPT, or learn Japanese for a particular purpose, I will focus our lessons on what you find useful and enjoyable. I do not want students spending their time learning something they already know or do not need.
I aim to make lessons both personalised and cost-effective, focusing on the areas where you will get the most benefit.
I also have three years of experience working at Kumon with children, as well as experience working at a Japanese nursery in England with children up to seven years old. Having attended Japanese Saturday School myself, I understand the experience of learning Japanese alongside an English education.
