GCSE, A level and medicine applications tutor, or any level prior to this

I am currently a medical student at the University of St Andrews and I have just finished my first year. I have A levels in biology, mathematics, chemistry and Spanish and achieved an A* in all of these. Having completed my A levels so recently I am well placed to support with these subjects up to that level and I have also recently completed the UCAT and medicine application process so am able to give useful support and practice sessions for any aspect of the process including interviews, which I know can be fairly daunting. I also received medicine offers from the University of Nottingham, University of Birmingham and Trinity College Dublin, so am also able to tutor students for the HPAT.

Being a native French speaker and having achieved a 9 at GCSE, I am also able to tutor pupils for French.

Prior experience of tutoring has led me to develop skills such as employing varied teaching methods and engaging students, to help them achieve their very best. This comes from voluntary work throughout my time in sixth form where I led primary school science lessons, tutored two GCSE pupils for maths and chemistry and taught English as a foreign language. Throughout these experiences, I have learnt the importance of adapting my teaching style to the individual student, for example using diagrams or analogies.

I find it beneficial to include fun and engaging methods of teaching so that the students enjoy the sessions and therefore gain the most from them. Also, I am empathetic and have good listening skills therefore students feel able to express what they find difficult to me and I can help them in an encouraging, supportive way.

Being home from university for the summer, I have very flexible hours and have lots of time to dedicate to helping students realise their potential.
