Biology tutor and medical student with 5 years’ experience: clear explanations, smart revision and exam success for GCSE and A-lev

Hi, I’m Mohammed, a graduate-entry medical student at Brunel University London with a BSc in Biomedical Sciences from St George’s, University of London. Biology is the subject I’ve studied in the most depth, and I’ve been tutoring science and maths for five years.

I tutor GCSE and A-level Biology, as well as students preparing for university admissions. My lessons are tailored to each student. In the first session I find out where they’re confident and where the gaps are, then we build from there. I break difficult topics like cell biology, genetics, the immune system and physiology into clear, logical steps, and I use real examples from medicine to make the content memorable and show how it all connects.

Biology exams reward precise answers, so a big part of my teaching is exam technique. We practise past paper questions together, go through mark schemes, and learn the key words examiners look for, especially on longer six-mark questions where many students lose easy marks.

I also teach students how to revise effectively. That means active recall, spaced repetition and practice questions instead of rereading notes. I help each student build a realistic revision plan around their exam dates, so they stay on track without feeling overwhelmed.

My lessons are friendly, patient and relaxed. Students should always feel comfortable asking questions, because that’s where real progress starts. My aim is for every student to leave each lesson more confident than when they arrived.
