Advert description
I am an interdisciplinary artist and designer with an MA in Art and Science from Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London, completed with Distinction, and a BA in Design and Creative Arts specialising in Visual Arts. My lessons are suitable for complete beginners, children and teenagers, creative adults, and students preparing to apply to art and design schools. Lessons can be taught in either English or Mandarin Chinese.
For students who would like to develop their basic drawing skills, I offer step-by-step guidance in observational drawing, proportion, perspective, composition, line, shading, colour and sketchbook practice. Each lesson is adapted to the student’s current level, interests and learning goals, so no previous experience is required.
I can also support students in developing their creative thinking and individual artistic direction. Together, we can explore how to turn an initial idea into a complete creative project through research, experimentation, visual references, material exploration and discussion. Rather than asking students to follow one fixed style, I encourage them to express their own ideas, take creative risks and become more confident in making independent decisions.
For students preparing portfolios for applications to UAL and other leading UK art and design schools, I can provide guidance informed by my own application and study experience at Central Saint Martins. This can include generating and developing project ideas, selecting and improving work, documenting the creative process, organising sketchbooks, structuring the portfolio and strengthening visual storytelling. My aim is to help each student create a portfolio that feels personal, thoughtful and clearly communicates their individual strengths.
My teaching style is patient, encouraging and practical. I use clear demonstrations, manageable exercises, visual examples and personalised feedback to help students make steady progress. I also have experience supporting children and young people in creative workshops and communicating artistic ideas to people from different cultural and educational backgrounds.
