I am an interdisciplinary artist and designer with an MA in Art and Science from Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London (UAL), completed with Distinction, and a BA in Design and Creative Arts specialising in Visual Arts. I offer personalised lessons in drawing, creative development and art school portfolio preparation. Lessons can be taught in English or Mandarin Chinese.
My lessons are suitable for complete beginners, children and teenagers, adults returning to art, and students preparing applications for art and design courses. Each lesson is planned around the student’s current level, interests and goals rather than following one fixed teaching method.
For beginners, lessons can cover observational drawing, proportion, perspective, composition, line, shading, colour and sketchbook practice. I use clear demonstrations, manageable exercises and visual examples to help students understand the fundamentals and gradually build confidence.
I also support students who want to develop their creative thinking. We can explore how to turn an initial idea into a stronger project through research, experimentation, material exploration, visual references and discussion. I encourage students to find their own artistic direction instead of copying a particular style.
For students preparing portfolios for UAL and other UK art and design schools, I can provide guidance based on my own application and study experience at Central Saint Martins. This may include developing project ideas, selecting work, improving presentation, documenting the creative process, organising sketchbooks and building clear visual storytelling.
My teaching style is patient, encouraging and practical. I have experience supporting children and young people in creative workshops, and I aim to create a comfortable environment where students feel confident asking questions, experimenting and expressing their own ideas.
