At the beginning of each lesson, I will introduce the topic by connecting it to what students already know. I may use a short question, puzzle, story, picture, or real-life situation to attract their attention. For example, when teaching percentages, I can discuss discounts in shops; when teaching measurement, I can use objects found in the classroom. This approach will help students see that mathematics is useful in everyday life.
I will explain new concepts in small, logical steps. I will use simple language and demonstrate each process carefully. Where appropriate, I will use concrete materials such as counters, number cards, rulers, shapes, measuring containers, and diagrams. Students will first work with real objects, then with pictures or models, and finally with mathematical symbols. This progression will make abstract ideas easier to understand.
After explaining a concept, I will solve examples with the whole class. I will ask questions throughout the demonstration to check whether students are following. Rather than only asking for final answers, I will encourage learners to explain how they reached their answers. This will help me identify misconceptions and allow students to learn different problem-solving methods from one another.
Students will have many opportunities to practise. Practice activities will include individual exercises, pair work, group tasks, mathematical games, investigations, and problem-solving activities. I will begin with simple questions and gradually introduce more challenging ones. I will also use real-life word problems so that students can apply mathematical knowledge in meaningful situations.
Because students have different learning needs and abilities, I will differentiate my teaching. Learners who need additional support will receive simpler examples, visual aids, guided practice, and extra time. I will provide extension tasks for students who understand quickly, allowing them to explore ideas more deeply. I will use flexible grouping so that learners can sometimes work with students of similar ability and sometimes learn from classmates with different strengths.
