Advert description
I am a highly qualified and experienced Science tutor with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), over 10 years’ teaching experience, and academic training in Biology up to PhD level. This combination of classroom expertise and advanced subject knowledge allows me to explain complex scientific concepts clearly, accurately, and in a way that builds genuine understanding and confidence.
I tutor students across Key Stage 3, GCSE, and A-level, working with exam boards including AQA, Edexcel (UK & International), OCR, Cambridge (CIE), and IB. I support both UK-based and international learners, and I am particularly well-suited to home-educated students and families seeking daytime tuition. My availability is mainly UK time, 9 am–3 pm, which works especially well for home education schedules and students based overseas.
I specialise in working with students who lack confidence, feel anxious about science, or are currently underperforming. Many of the students I support have gaps in understanding or have lost belief in their ability. My approach focuses on rebuilding confidence first, then strengthening subject knowledge and exam skills so progress feels achievable and sustainable.
Lessons are calm, structured, and tailored to the individual student. Sessions may be flexible and responsive to current learning needs, or more structured for long-term revision and exam preparation. I use clear PowerPoint presentations, scaffolded questioning, and exam-style questions to develop both understanding and exam technique.
Parents are kept informed of progress throughout, and I aim to provide a supportive, high-quality learning experience that helps students feel capable, confident, and well prepared. My rates reflect my PhD-level subject expertise, QTS qualification, and over a decade of teaching experience.
