Advert description
Are you looking for a maths tutor who can explain difficult ideas clearly rather than simply teach you how to memorise procedures?
I am a former university lecturer with more than 12 years of experience teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students. My academic background combines mathematics, statistics, biology and ecology, giving me a particularly strong understanding of the mathematical principles behind real-world science.
I currently provide one-to-one tuition to an A-Level student on the autistic spectrum and have experience adapting my teaching to the individual learner. I take a calm, patient and structured approach, breaking challenging problems into manageable steps and making sure the student understands the reasoning behind the answer.
I can help with:
• A-Level Mathematics
• University-level Mathematics
• Statistics and probability
• Mathematical modelling
• Quantitative methods
• Data analysis and interpretation
• Mathematics for biology and other sciences
• Exam preparation and revision
• Building confidence with difficult topics
My university teaching has included probability theory, random processes, mathematical modelling, matrix algebra, population modelling and advanced statistical methods. I also have extensive experience using mathematics and statistics to solve real scientific problems.
For university students, I can provide additional support with statistics, research methods, data analysis and the mathematical aspects of scientific projects.
I believe good tutoring is not about giving students the answer. It is about helping them understand how to find the answer themselves. My aim is to build both competence and confidence, while adapting the pace and style of teaching to the individual student.
Lessons can be tailored to your current level, course and specific goals.
