Advert description
After graduating with a Physics degree from Salford University, I spent several years working on different scientific research projects. In my last postgraduate project at Strathclyde University, I was part of the International research collaboration that was responsible for the first detection of gravitational waves and was awarded the 'Special Breakthrough Prize for Fundamental Physics' for my contribution to the project. I have three years of experience teaching a Computational Physics course at Strathclyde University. This is a practical class where students are required to complete various programming exercises with the help of their tutors. I have given extra tutoring outside the classroom for students that needed it to ensure that all my students passed the course. Last year, I successfully tutored a National 5 pupil in Maths and I currently have a couple of pupils starting secondary school.
I am a calm and patient individual who likes to identify what crucial insight it is that a student might be lacking in order to understand a concept. I like to ensure that every topic is well motivated with applications in professional or commercial settings. I also put a strong emphasis on the student understanding the overall gist of the topic on an intuitive level before getting bogged down in the nitty-gritty details of calculations. However, I will adapt my lessons to cater to particular student needs, such as preparing for an upcoming assessment or looking to improve confidence in the subject.
