Oxford University graduate. Available to teach History, English, Portuguese and French at primary or GCSE level

Hello, I'm Lucy and I have recently graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in History and Portuguese from Oxford University. I have a year’s experience in delivering one-to-one English lessons online, as well as Spanish A1 level tutoring. In addition, I have extensive experience in working with young children, as I have worked in a children’s after-school and holiday centre for 2 years, alongside having done local childminding for the past 8 years.

I always try to make my lessons fun and engaging, using visual cues, and breaking down larger tasks into smaller chunks to make them feel more manageable. I focus more on spontaneous output and active recall, which is ever more relevant as AI is becoming increasingly used in education. My ethos is that even if a student gets an answer wrong, it’s important to attempt anyway. Whilst learning can feel daunting, the first step is simply to try.

I am able to teach History, English, Portuguese and French at primary or GCSE level. As History and Portuguese were my degree subject areas, I feel most comfortable in these. Having achieved an A grade at A-level French and studied foreign literature as part of my undergraduate degree, I feel confident in my ability to teach European and English literature. My experience delivering one-to-one English lessons online has also given me a strong grounding in teaching English effectively.
