I worked as a tutor for a company for 9 months from October 2025- June 2026 mentoring children aged Year 1-6 in Maths and English in preparation for their SATs, allowing me to develop my skills of communication, time management and organisation. Following on from this, I spent 4 weeks at a residential school in Ipswich for international students aged 10-17 learning English from July to August, having stopped working as a tutor due to my A-level examinations. I received a grade A in German A-level and the highest score in the essay paper out of my year group at sixth form as well as an A* in English Literature, so I have excellent essay structuring and analysis skills which can be transferred to practicing for SATs and the 11+. I passed the 11+ myself and attended Colchester County High School for Girls.

I love German and languages, so being able to transfer my experiences working with children and tutoring to my favourite subject would be a great use of my skills and hopefully, my love of the language can inspire students to feel the same! I have gone through the GCSE examinations fairly recently, in both German and Spanish, so I have a good understanding of the skills and curriculum required to do well, especially understanding that speaking is often the most difficult aspect for students. My lessons would be a great opportunity to practice and develop speaking skills. I will encourage students to practice vocabulary weekly and ideally test them on what they have learnt to gradually build their knowledge, go over the specific areas of weakness requested (e.g grammar points and tenses) and provide exemplar answers to help give students an idea of what examiners want to see in GCSE papers.

I also am able to tutor in English and Maths for SATs preparation and 11+ preparation having achieved excellent GCSE results in both of these subjects and my experience tutoring children from Year 1-6 for both of these exams. I am prepared to provide exemplar answers and mark past papers or practice answers in creative writing and maths and I am very patient when offering different methods to aid understanding.
