Advert description
I’m a Chemistry PhD candidate at the University of Glasgow with several years of experience teaching chemistry at school-leaver and undergraduate level, as well as previous one-to-one online tutoring experience.
I tutor GCSE, A-Level, National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher Chemistry, and can also support undergraduate students. Whether you’re struggling with a particular topic, aiming for a higher exam grade, or simply want to feel more confident with chemistry, I’ll tailor lessons around what you need.
I like to start with a learner needs assessment to uncover what aspects of chemistry the learner is struggling with. From there, I will create a bespoke learning plan with a mix of teaching, problem-solving, and exam prep. I break difficult concepts down into manageable steps and gradually build up to more challenging problems.
I have taught undergraduate laboratory classes and problem-solving sessions at the University of Glasgow, marked student work, and delivered chemistry teaching through the university’s widening-access programme. My background spans physical, organic and inorganic chemistry, so I’m comfortable teaching across the full school curriculum.
Lessons can focus on:
- Understanding difficult concepts and filling knowledge gaps
- Calculation and problem-solving skills
- Exam questions and exam technique
- Revision and preparation for upcoming assessments
I’m happy to adapt the pace and style of lessons to each student, whether that means carefully working through the fundamentals or tackling more demanding material.
