Chemistry PhD candidate and experienced tutor, teaching from GCSE/National 5 through to undergraduate level.
I have several years of teaching experience through the University of Glasgow, alongside previous one-to-one online tutoring.
I can help with:
- GCSE and A-Level Chemistry
- National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher Chemistry
- Undergraduate chemistry
- Exam preparation and past-paper practice
- Difficult calculations and problem-solving
- Organic, inorganic and physical chemistry
- Building confidence after falling behind
- Pushing towards top grades
What my lessons are like:
- A learner needs assessment so that I can tailor following sessions to the student's needs
- Clear explanations of difficult concepts
- Worked examples followed by independent practice
- Regular use of exam-style questions
- Focus on understanding the chemistry, not just memorising answers
- Adapted to the student’s pace, confidence and goals
My approach is usually to identify exactly where the difficulty is coming from, explain the underlying chemistry in a different way, then build back up to exam-level problems.
My teaching experience includes:
- Undergraduate chemistry laboratory demonstrations
- Leading undergraduate problem-solving sessions
- One-to-one online chemistry tutoring
- Marking and providing feedback on student work
- Teaching school leavers through the University of Glasgow access programme
I’m happy to work with students who are struggling with the fundamentals, preparing for an important exam, or aiming to move from a good grade to an excellent one. The goal is simple: you should finish the lesson understanding the chemistry better and feeling more confident tackling the next question yourself.
