Advert description
I have taught language and literature for many years, and have considerable experience across a number of languages, including English. My degrees (in French and German) are literature degrees as much as language ones, and enable me to teach across English language and literature as well as foreign languages.
I have considerable experience teaching in schools and universities both in the UK and abroad. Whilst I have taught extensively in the British GCSE/ A Level system, I also have plenty of experience teaching non-native speakers from different educational backgrounds, and would be happy to tutor either group.
I have extensive experience with and training for SEND and autism.
I relish the opportunity tutoring gives to identify particular problems and blockages, and to help students to realise their potential. You might even discover a love for the subject quietly lurking unsuspected under the surface!
When teaching literature, I base discussion on precise key passages that we look at in detail, and from there build up a detailed understanding of the text. We then adapt these insights to exam question formats to help you to get full credit for your understanding. You will find that you come to a real appreciation of the texts, and start to enjoy what might have seemed too abstract or arid.
In terms of language, I base my approach on a detailed analysis of your particular needs, and then help you build up skills bit by bit. This could be on the level of grammar or vocabulary, or addressing stylistic questions , or again clarity and accuracy of expression.
