Highly experienced language teacher offering tuition in German at GCSE, A Level and IB

A qualified teacher of German and French, I have taught these languages in schools and universities for nearly 30 years. Newly retired, I am eager to continue passing on a real pleasure in the German language, and supporting those who are finding it harder than it needs to be! I am comfortable teaching communicatively (via German) or explaining the nuts and bolts of grammar and supporting work done in school - I am very flexible.

I am a native speaker of English and also speak German, having studied the language and literature at undergraduate level and lived in Austria.

I take enormous pleasure in helping students to enjoy using the language, and to appreciate the culture, and feel that tutoring can open doors to understanding in a powerful way, through being targeted to the tutee's specific needs. I combine rigour with a sense of fun and enjoyment, and feel the two to be complementary.

I have considerable experience with and training for SEND and autism.
