Nat 5 - Advanced Higher Spanish classes with an experienced Spanish BA graduate

Hi! I learned Spanish all through high school, and I recently graduated from studying a BA in Spanish at Edinburgh University. I love languages, and I'm currently learning German from scratch, so I understand what it feels like to be at the start of the process!

For years I understood the grammar and basic concepts of Spanish but struggled with low confidence and motivation when it came to speaking. As a result I never really felt like I thrived with the language, completing the exercises but feeling like fluency was something I could never achieve.

This went on even during university, until I went on my year abroad in Spain (because I had to)... and decided that I make the most of the opportunity, and speak a little every day. Soon enough, I realised that a degree of fluency is completely possible for normal people who aren't geniuses, as everyday life is made up of a certain amount of topics and vocabulary, and your confidence naturally grows the more you stretch the muscle of communicating. Also - with practice, you do get there!

I discovered the joy of connecting with others across barriers and cultures and the flexibility of having more than one language, so I would love to share that with others. I am a very patient person, as I myself am a slow learner, so I can easily tailor lessons to a pupil's needs. I would love to inspire more students to continue studying Spanish even beyond high school, and discover the world outside what they are familiar with.
