Hello, and welcome future students!

I’m an experienced educator, with over a decade of experience helping students develop their understanding of History, from school through to undergraduate level.

Alongside my tutoring, I have over 15 years of professional experience researching and communicating history for television, radio and print publishing. My work has included historical documentary and drama series, radio and print journalism, and published nonfiction. My research has covered an exceptionally broad range of periods, from the Viking Age to the turn of the twenty-first century. I also hold a Master’s degree in Russian and Eastern European Literature and Culture from University College London (UCL).

I’m passionate about helping students understand and engage with History, rather than simply memorising facts. Whether we’re exploring historical events and their contexts, examining sources and interpretations, developing analytical skills or working on essay writing and exam preparation, I want students to feel confident in their understanding of the subject and in their ability to communicate what they know.

My lessons are individually tailored, but always grounded in the requirements of each student’s course. I prepare with the relevant curriculum, exam-board specifications, assessment and marking criteria, and prescribed materials in mind, building lessons around what each student needs to learn and how they learn most effectively. This allows me to combine careful academic preparation with a flexible, engaging approach that supports students in making meaningful progress and getting more out of studying History.
