Science Teacher / Tutor (Chemistry Specialist)

Hey there!

I'm Ben, or Dr Hawkins. I'm a fully qualified teacher with over 4 years of teaching experience. I have taught a range of subjects - from traditional STEM to PSHE - to a range of ages, though I have specifically trained to teach ages 11+.

My background and experience means that if you need help with general science up to GCSE, I'll be able to effectively evaluate your strengths and weaknesses and tailor your learning experience to fit your needs. Additionally, I'll be able to provide this for Chemistry up to and including University level. Alternatively, if you already know what you struggle with and have more direct questions that you need support with, I'll be able to offer help in Maths, Biology, or Physics A-levels as well.

I have a doctorate in Chemistry, which I obtained for no reason other than I love my subject. My field of research was catalysis, though I ended up learning a lot about many different sub-ections of chemistry, including analytical, polymer, material, organic, and physical chemistry. I consider myself lucky to have worked on such an amazing project with a diverse collection of specialists, as choosing a sub-section within my field would have been too difficult.

Tutoring starts at £20/hour, depending on the intensity of what you require. A lot of effort goes on behind the scenes in teaching, and the more hours that are required in preparation for your lessons will influence the hourly rate that you'll be quoted for face-to-face tutoring.
