Advert description
I hold a PhD in biomedical science, with a research background in cancer biology and bone marrow transplantation, and I have published peer-reviewed research as a first author. Alongside my academic training, I have hands-on experience working in laboratory and healthcare settings, which allows me to connect scientific theory to real-world applications and help students see the relevance of what they are learning.
My lessons are aimed primarily at GCSE and A-Level students who want to build strong foundations in biology and chemistry, improve their exam performance, or develop confidence in challenging scientific topics. I also support students who are preparing for exams, struggling with specific concepts, or aiming for top grades and competitive university courses. Whether a student feels overwhelmed by content, lacks confidence, or simply wants to deepen their understanding, my teaching approach is tailored to meet their individual needs.
I believe that science should be accessible, engaging, and understandable for every learner. My teaching style is student-centred, supportive, and structured, focusing on breaking down complex topics into simple, manageable steps. I use clear explanations, diagrams, exam-style questions, and active discussion to reinforce understanding and build long-term retention. I also place strong emphasis on exam technique, helping students understand how to approach mark schemes, structure answers effectively, and avoid common mistakes.
Having worked with students from diverse educational and cultural backgrounds, I understand that every learner is different. I adapt my pace and teaching methods to suit each student’s learning style, whether they prefer visual explanations, step-by-step guidance, or problem-solving practice. I aim to create a relaxed and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes, as this is essential for growth and confidence.
In addition to academic success, I encourage curiosity and critical thinking, helping students develop skills that extend beyond exams. My background in research and healthcare allows me to offer insight into careers in science, medicine, and biomedical research, which many students find motivating and inspiring.
