I would listen to the student's needs and create a skeleton plan so it stays flexible the further we go yet cover or recap the basic necessary concepts required. I would focus on clean coding practices so what a student learns is useful in the real world. And if we have time, start creating a sample project of their choice as the best way to learn is by doing and making your own mistakes.
