First step would be for me to listen to your needs and see what you'd like to learn. After that I'd go into discussing how realistic that is and if there's a particular direction I think would be more advisable. Next would be getting started. I would have a high level plan of what we should do but I like to keep things flexible and do what feels right at the time of lesson based on the progress made and areas of strength and weaknesses.
If you want to learn a specific language, I would go over programming basics and language basics based on your experience level and best case would be we (ideally you with my help) can come up with a project idea and we start working on that while learning.
I focus on clean coding standards so that your code is production ready and well tested. But most importantly you understand your own code. Not just now but if you come back to it in months or years time or even if you show your code to someone else, good clean code is almost entirely self documented, expandable and maintainable.
My experience: I've worked as a website developer for 8 years where I mostly used C# and typescript using React framework. And for the past year and half, I've been working as an indie games developer using Unreal Engine and a combination of C++ and visual scripting to design a PC video game.
Although I have limited experience in games dev, my clean coding skills still lead to a good codebase for the game so if that's of any addittional interest to you, I'd be happy to share more.
