Experienced teacher supporting primary, lower-secondary learners and adults with tutoring, mentoring and goal setting.

Advert description
My sessions will be positive, structured and personalised. I believe learners make the greatest progress when they feel listened to, respected and confident enough to make mistakes and learn from them. I will begin by identifying the learner’s strengths, areas for development and what they would like to improve. This may be a curriculum area such as English, Maths or French, or wider skills such as confidence, organisation, motivation and study habits. Each session will be guided by clear learning intentions so the learner understands what they are working towards and what successful progress looks like. Larger goals will be broken into smaller, achievable steps, with regular opportunities to review progress and identify next steps. For academic tutoring, I will assess the learner’s current understanding before using clear explanations, modelling, questioning and guided practice. I can support primary and lower-secondary learners in Maths, English, French and wider curriculum subjects, adapting my teaching and resources to suit individual needs. Alongside subject knowledge, I will help learners develop useful study and life skills, including goal-setting, time management, organisation, resilience, concentration and confidence. I encourage learners to think independently rather than simply giving them answers, using discussion and questioning to help them reason, reflect and solve problems. As an experienced classroom teacher, communication is one of my key strengths. I am used to adapting my approach to different ages, personalities and levels of confidence. I am fluent in English and French, with basic Spanish. I am also creative, organised and calm under pressure, with a background in architecture and the arts that helps me present learning in engaging and accessible ways. Most importantly, I understand that successful learning is about more than academic results. Confidence, motivation and a positive mindset can strongly influence progress. My aim is for every learner to leave each session with a clearer understanding of the learning intention, greater confidence in their abilities and practical strategies they can use independently.
