Academically, I have a strong record, proven with my excellent A Level results and a 2:1 Honours degree in Spanish and English Language and Literature (with a Minor in Italian). In 2015, I achieved a Master’s degree in Spanish as a Foreign Language in Professional Sectors from the University of Barcelona. Moreover, after gaining QTS in June 2015 at the University of Cumbria, I have held the position of KS3/4/5 Spanish, French and Latin teacher at two secondary schools in the north-west of England. Over the course of the seven years that I spent at these schools, I have undertaken a variety of responsibilities which have allowed me to develop professionally to become an experienced language teaching specialist.
As there have been various changes to the teaching and assessment of GCSE and A-Level languages over the past few years, part of these changes required me to adapt my practice and to create schemes of work across all Key Stages, including differentiated assessments. In this regard, I feel this shows my ability to deliver innovative, highly-differentiated and successful teaching and learning initiatives to raise and preserve high standards and work collaboratively within the department to ensure success.
In addition to my role as a secondary school teacher, I spent a year teaching at a private language academy, delivering Spanish lessons to learners of various levels and ages, both in one-to-one settings and in larger mixed-ability groups. These lessons were delivered through a combination of in-person and online teaching, allowing me to adapt my methods to suit different learning environments. Moreover, I have also given private online tutoring to students undertaking official examinations (GCSE and A-Levels) and to adult learners with different levels of linguistic competence, from A1 to C1-C2. I therefore believe that I have high standards, unlimited ambition and the drive that is required to continue the excellent work that is being undertaken at FindTutors, providing language teaching using a variety of learning methods.
