International Concert Classical Guitarist and teacher of guitar and piano with over 25 years of teaching experience

Having taught and performed as a concert classical guitarist for over 25 years I can confidently say that I am a very experienced teacher and will lead the lessons clearly. I have worked in over 10 music departments in positions such as peripatetic teacher, classroom teacher, ensemble, orchestra and choir leader and as assistant head of music. It is very important that my pupils feel comfortable in their lessons and feel able to tell me what areas they do and don't enjoy, and if they are finding certain areas challenging. I take a structured approach and am very encouraging. Building up my pupils confidence is one of the most important areas of my job!

My pupils find it so rewarding learning the guitar and piano, they are both such versatile instruments. There are many different styles that can be learnt on the guitar and piano, and music from around the world can be played on both instruments. Did you know the guitar it is also a percussion instrument? There is so much to learn and enjoy with the guitar and piano and I really look forward to sharing my knowledge with you and guiding you through the levels, so that you can get to a point that you pick up a piece of music and can learn it yourself!
