Yu Yamamoto

I am a native Japanese speaker and a qualified English teacher from Japan, currently based in London. I worked as an English teacher at a public junior high school in Japan for five years, where I taught English and also worked as a homeroom teacher.

Before becoming a school teacher, I worked for three years at an English conversation school and tutoring school, teaching students from primary school age to high school.

Throughout my teaching career, I have always believed that every student learns differently. I take time to listen carefully, understand each student’s personality, interests and learning needs, and adapt my approach accordingly. I particularly value building a trusting relationship with my students and supporting them patiently at their own pace.

I am new to teaching Japanese as a foreign language, so I would particularly welcome beginners, as well as children and teenagers who would like to learn or practise Japanese. Lessons can be adapted to the student’s individual goals, whether they would like to practise everyday conversation, learn basic Japanese, improve their pronunciation, or develop their confidence in using the language.

My aim is to create a relaxed and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. I would love to share not only the Japanese language but also Japanese culture with students who are interested in Japan.
