I change my approach depending on the student, as some students are independent learners and only need help for feedback after they do a question. Other students, however, are comfortable going through question papers on their own and are much more interested in having someone support them in grasping the core ideas in a topic.
I understand that different students require different approaches to teaching, and so I adapt my style as I get to know the student. I strive to create a comfortable environment where a student is comfortable asking questions and interacting more deeply with content. I have found that having a student actively participate by debating ideas and explaining things that they have learned is a very superior method of education compared to a teacher lecturing and a student passively listening. I prioritize active participation in lessons by preparing engaging lessons, with opportunities for a student to engage more deeply with the content scattered throughout them.
Students learn best when they are in a comfortable, welcoming environment. I do my best to provide that environment so that they can enjoy learning.
