I have personal experience taking English Literature at GCSE, A Level, and at the University of Glasgow for my degree. From this, I have a solid understanding of how different exam boards work, the best literature to read for inspiration, and which texts are utilised in each aspect of learning. My personal strengths lie in poetry and analysis of text, as well as finding critical sources. I also have a wide knowledge of different philosophers as well as psychological studies.
My teaching format can be altered to fit the needs of the student. I understand how people learn differently, and have grown up around different abilities, such as my brother, who is autistic. From this, I believe tailoring my teaching to fit the individual is the best outcome, so I will first get to know my student and evaluate how they work.
I believe the biggest aspect in achieving is confidence! So I will try to make my sessions as engaging and easy-going as possible! From my own educational experience, I have tonnes of resources, as well as the best educational videos and tools for independent learning.
My job is to lay a secure foundation, working with text and exam boards, so that the student can feel empowered and secure as they start to develop their writing.
I will always try to keep a calm presence, as I know learning can become extremely overwhelming. My job is to break the big tasks down into smaller ones and tackle each issue one step at a time.
