I start my lessons by teaching students how to play by ear. This helps them to develop their aural skills and to learn to identify and reproduce melodies and rhythms. Once students have a good foundation in playing by ear, I begin to teach them how to read music notation. I use a variety of methods and resources to teach music theory and notation, and I tailor my lessons to the individual needs of each student.
