I feel compelled to teach because I understand what it can feel like to struggle with these subjects, and because I’ve completed my GCSEs and A levels I remember what it’s like to prepare for exams while balancing other responsibilities.
Each lesson will be tailored to the student’s goals, whether that be improving mathematical reasoning or developing physical intuition. I’d like to start by allowing students to highlight the topics they find hardest and then delivering an in-depth explanation for the main concepts. I always emphasise keywords for each topic because using proper terminology is very useful for exams. This is before plenty of exam questions will be attempted by the student with my help during the lesson. Exam questions are the best way to consolidate understanding and develop exam technique simultaneously and it helps tremendously when someone experienced can guide you through them.
Making mistakes is part of the process and I'l make sure to create a safe and comfortable atmosphere so that confidence can be developed alongside problem solving.
