This helped me develop my tutoring skills, understand how to plan lessons, make sure they are engaging, and granted me a good understanding on how to access resources to plan my lessons. My style of teaching will adapt based on the student's needs. Some students are verbal learners, some are visual. The key is to understand how your student learns best, rather than having a clear, rigid approach to teaching, because every student is different. I would look to understand my student's strengths and weaknesses. This can be done through setting them a variety of work, quizzes, and speaking to them about their own thoughts.
This allows me to then focus on topics that need some more work. My lessons would involve a mix between teaching content, completing exam questions, and active recall activities such as quizzes to ensure that knowledge is kept. We would also go through various revision techniques and make revision plans in the run-up to exams. Many students are not taught how to revise so this is critical.
