Hi! I’m Tingyi, a Chinese student studying Media Skills at Kingston University in the UK. I’d love to help you learn practical Chinese and feel more confident using it in everyday life.
Our first lesson will start with a conversation about your interests, current level and learning goals. Whether you’re a complete beginner or looking for speaking practice, we can plan lessons around what you want to achieve.
For beginners, we can focus on pinyin, tones, useful words and simple sentences. For conversation practice, we can explore topics such as food, travel, hobbies and daily life. A typical lesson might include a short review, new vocabulary and a practical activity, such as ordering food or introducing yourself.
My background in visual design and media means I enjoy explaining ideas through pictures and creative examples. I would use visual materials to make vocabulary and sentence patterns easier to understand. I also have volunteer teaching experience in China, which helped me appreciate the value of encouragement and clear explanations.
As someone studying abroad, I understand that speaking another language can sometimes feel intimidating. You’ll have space to ask questions, practise and make mistakes without feeling rushed. We’ll work at your pace, with clear explanations and helpful feedback along the way.
