I have been playing guitar for over 20 years now, and playing professionally for around 14. I have played many different styles over the years and had the privilege of playing thousands of gigs including weddings, festivals, private parties and corporate events. I am lucky enough that I get to travel around Europe playing at weddings in some incredible locations with one of the world's best party bands, which gives me a lot of real world experience I can pass onto others. Having recently moved I am looking to offer greater focus with private teaching. I hold all relevant documents like an enhanced DBS certificate with is linked to the yearly update service and public liability insurance.

I have taught guitar, bass and ukulele in schools for over 12 years, with over 70+ students a week in various schools. I have helped young students get prepared for grade exams, practice performance pieces for GCSE music, helped them discover a new instrument and help them build up a new skill they didn't know they had, I have done a class ukulele lessons for a whole class of year 3 students which, not only did it teach them a new instrument, but it taught me new ways of teaching a large group compared to one-to-one or groups of two or three.

My approach to teaching is one of patience, it can be easy to forget that something I find easy to play with 20+ years experience isn't necessarily easy for the student. One of the ways i learnt to play guitar was learning to play songs, noticing the patterns between songs like the same chord shapes, how melodies interacted with chords and build up from that, I have had great success teaching this way with students over the years, and when you are finally able to play a song you love, it feels like you have reached a significant milestone!
