As a future doctor, I recognise that teaching and learning are integral parts of my journey. I bring with me the skills, empathy, and patience essential for effective teaching. My experience working in schools has further strengthened my ability to communicate clearly, manage diverse learning needs, and support students emotionally and academically.
I believe that truly impactful teaching begins with creating a supportive, comfortable environment and developing a personalised plan that suits each student’s unique needs.
Every student learns differently, which is why I tailor each lesson to the individual. I use the first session to understand their strengths, weaknesses, and learning style. From there, we collaboratively set goals and build a structured plan to reach them. My teaching approach focuses on deep understanding rather than rote memorisation, ensuring that students grasp the why behind the concepts.
I also encourage open communication, making it clear that the lessons are for them — and if anything isn’t working, we can adapt. Many students face challenges with confidence, so we integrate both exam preparation and confidence-building into our sessions. After learning the content, we apply that knowledge through practice papers to reinforce understanding and build exam readiness. My time working in schools has also taught me how to keep students engaged, manage classroom dynamics, and offer encouragement in ways that boost both motivation and academic performance. This includes working with students with SEN as well as meeting with students to discuss efficiency and revision techniques. My most recent role was as Learning Coach in one of the top sixth forms in London.
