Sushila Hirani

I have 32 years’ experience of teaching GCSE and A Level Design and Graphics and KS3 Art. Recently I taught A Level Art. I have an outstanding record of achieving grades well above the national average. For the last 11 years I have worked with Edexcel and therefore I am experienced as to what is required at this level.
For exam level, as DT and Art requires independent working, the first thing I do is gauge your ability and skills by going through your work with you to determine the direction of the theme you have chosen. Together, we would look at any existing grades you have and then mark the work together against the exam assessment criteria to determine the areas you would like more input with and also my recommendations on where and how you can improve skills and/or grades.
I have high expectations with a collaborative and creative approach, where you learn to think outside the box and not be afraid to take risks and enjoy learning. We will explore a range of media from drawing, both freehand and technical, 3D rendering, painting and printmaking techniques in order to develop and improve your technical skills, your ideas and your confidence.
I am currently working with ceramics and I am part of a sketch club, producing my own work.
Lessons are a minimum 1 hour. I teach and tutor up to A-level and GCSE DT and Art/Art and Design, or just for fun!
