Sumeya Velasco

I’ve always strived to achieve my best and live by the Latin quote, ‘Prepare to fail if you have failed to prepare.’ This is the same mentality I will bring to our lessons. I believe everyone has potential, and I want to help you get the most out of every lesson.

I’m caring, compassionate and approachable, and I want you to feel completely at ease with me. No question is a silly question! I believe that learning from our mistakes, practising and using repetition are all key to achieving success academically.

The effort I have put into my own education has helped me achieve grades 8s and 9s at GCSE, followed by A*s in Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics at A-level. I then went on to study Applied Medical Science at University College London (UCL), one of the world’s leading universities, where I achieved a First-Class Bachelor of Science degree. I continued my studies with a Master of Science in Precision Medicine, achieving a Distinction, and I am now undertaking a PhD in cancer research.

Throughout my education, I have developed strong revision techniques, learned how to break down and understand difficult content, and developed strategies for approaching exams with confidence. I want to share the knowledge and skills I have gained to help other students reach their own goals and realise their potential.
