Helping you understand the “why”, not just memorise the “what”.

My approach to tutoring is centred around understanding, rather than simply memorising. I want to help students understand the “why” behind science and maths, so that concepts make sense and are easier to remember. I believe everyone learns differently, so I adapt my lessons to suit each student. We can work through topics step-by-step, break down difficult concepts into simpler parts, use diagrams and examples, and practise questions together. I’ll encourage students to ask questions and will never make them feel like a question is “silly”! For science, I particularly enjoy making complex topics easier to understand by relating them to real-life examples and finding simple ways to remember key information. For maths, I focus on building confidence with the basics before working up to more challenging questions and helping students understand the method rather than just learning a formula. Lessons can also be tailored around what the student needs most, whether that is preparing for an upcoming exam, going over a topic they are struggling with, practising exam questions, or simply building confidence in a subject. Most importantly, I want lessons to feel relaxed, supportive and encouraging. My goal is not just to help students get the right answer, but to help them feel confident enough to work it out for themselves.
