GCSE English is about passing exams. And not everyone performs well in an exam. For those struggling with English, I provide check lists and sentence starters that help to point you in the right direction.

Where students often go wrong is in thinking there are right and wrong answers (especially those preferring maths/science subjects). You have to give your opinion about the writing - then back it up with quotes and explain why you think this. Your opinion can be different from your friend (and your teacher) but so long as you can prove why you think that - you will get good marks. That area is where I really shine - helping you to form opinions and present your ideas.

It is also a misconception that studying a text in isolation will be enough - it is not. Reading other works by the same author or in a similar genre will often provide comparisons. As will knowing the background of the writer and the context in which it is written.

We will have fun. Happy students learn more, and, with me, you will learn to produce what the examiner is looking for.
