Soorya Kugathas

My lessons are tailored to each student’s goals and learning style. With A*s in Maths and Further Maths, over 1 year of tutoring experience, and currently studying Mathematics with Statistics for Finance at Imperial College London, I focus on helping students build confidence, strong understanding and exam technique.

I tutor students from 11+ through to GCSE, A-Level and TMUA/university admissions preparation. Having recently completed these exams myself, I understand the challenges students face and the most effective ways to prepare for high-level mathematics exams. I have already helped students achieve top GCSE grades and progress to Russell Group universities.

Depending on the student’s needs, lessons may be structured around teaching content through clear explanations and prepared presentations, or focused on working through exam-style questions to improve technique and confidence. I adapt each lesson based on the student’s strengths, weaknesses and goals. Some students benefit more from learning topics step-by-step from first principles, while others improve most through targeted practice and reviewing common exam mistakes.

My teaching style is patient, supportive and interactive. I encourage students to explain their thinking and work through problems logically so they develop a deeper understanding rather than simply memorising methods. Alongside improving grades, I aim to help students become more confident and independent learners.
