I like to teach in a way that feels calm, supportive, and genuinely helpful. My main focus is helping students work through their problems step by step and figuring out what actually works for them. Everyone learns differently, so I don’t expect one method to suit every student. Instead, I spend time understanding how they think, what they struggle with, and what kind of explanations make things click for them personally.
When something doesn’t make sense straight away, I don’t rush or move on quickly. We break it down together, try different approaches, and keep going until it feels clear. I’ve worked with mixed-ability students before, especially in Maths, so I’m used to adapting explanations and showing different ways to approach the same problem. Sometimes a student just needs a visual method, sometimes a step-by-step breakdown, and sometimes they just need someone patient to talk it through with.
In lessons, I usually start by checking what the student already understands, then build from there. We go through examples together, practise questions, and talk through the reasoning behind each step. In Maths especially, I think it’s important that students understand why something works, not just how to do it, because that’s what builds real confidence and helps them apply their knowledge independently.
My aim is for students to leave each session feeling clearer, more capable, and proud of the progress they’ve made. I want learning to feel manageable and less stressful, and I try to make lessons something students can actually feel good about. Overall, I’m here to support them, encourage them, and help them find the way of learning that suits them best.
