I aim to make lessons engaging and enjoyable while maintaining a strong focus on progress and understanding. Before beginning any new work, I take time to assess what a student already knows so that lessons build naturally from their current level of understanding. Particular attention is always given to areas where a student needs additional support or confidence.

I have experience teaching and tutoring students across a wide range of ages and abilities. One of the aspects of tutoring I value most is building long-term relationships with students and their families. For example, I recently supported a pupil from Year 5 all the way through to their GCSE examinations. Many of the students I currently tutor have worked with me for three years or more, which reflects the consistency and reliability I aim to provide.

For online lessons I use noise-reduction headphones, a visualiser and a webcam to ensure that explanations are clear and interactive. In many cases both the student and I work from the same textbook, which allows us to progress through material together and makes it easier for parents to follow the learning journey.

In general, I guide students through the National Curriculum for their subject and stage. In the months leading up to examinations, lessons gradually shift towards working through past papers and developing exam technique so that students feel confident and well prepared.

Over the past thirty years I have worked in a wide range of educational roles, including Class Teacher, Senior Leader, Head of Department, Headteacher, Tutor, School Governor and Nursery Director. These experiences allow me to understand the wider educational journey of each student and support them effectively.

My qualifications include a National Professional Qualification for Headship, a Postgraduate Certificate in Education, and a Bachelor’s degree. I have also completed a Master’s degree exploring the relationship between art and mathematics. I am currently a doctoral student carrying out research that will investigate how physical and visual representations can support understanding in mathematics.
