My teaching philosophy is patterned after that of Dr. Marc Gold's "Try Another Way" method. This methodology has proven to be very successful as I work with students who are not native English speakers. My bachelor's degree is in special education. Consequently, I am extremely creative and patient with all my students. I have been teaching English as a Foreign Language for over 40 years. My most successful students are now employed as store managers, nurses, and the United States Border Patrol.
I like to learn a bit of background information on my students. By doing so my lessons are tailored to the students I have. This enables me to present the concepts I am teaching and make them more relatable to the students. For example, if I were teaching comparatives and superlatives to a student who has 3 children, I would relate young, younger and youngest to his/her children. In doing so, the language becomes alive and much more memorable.
Finally, it is imperative to keep in mind that time is money, and the student's needs are what must be given the highest priority in all lessons.
